Society Support was set up in 2016, the team came together from a variety of backgrounds, with the one aim – of assisting vulnerable adults to settle in good quality accommodation, enhancing their life skills and personal development to create more sustainable housing options for them integrating them back into our communities.

We are a self-funding community interest company;  with all our profits being re-invested back into the community, supporting our tenants and our landlords.

Society Support CIC currently maintain 11 properties. One of which is a secured refuge with a 12 bed capacity, designated to mothers with children and single female victims of domestic violence.

At the present time, we support and house 52 individuals, from homeless, substance misuse, veterans and many others sectors of society.

We have dedicated staff attending properties providing onsite support and advice, on a variety of areas including, life skills and employment, maintaining a property, health and wellbeing. We work with several agencies in the borough to enhance our services.

Referrals into Society Support come via organisations such as The Brick, plus also the Police, Complex Needs Team within the NHS, Local Authority, Probation and many others.

We deal with these issues every day, and the information we receive, while working alongside the various organizations and our regular meetings with the council regarding Domestic violence, homeless & mental health, suggest things are getting worse and will continue to do so.

We support our tenants and signpost them to various organizations and work alongside them to deal with a variety of different issues from, breaking the domestic abuse cycle that they are stuck in, through to mental health problems and substance misuse.  We also help them with money management, debt and gaining employment,  to try and break the vicious cycles a lot of people are stuck in.  It can be very difficult as they haven’t got the life skills most people take for granted, from budgeting, reading, writing cleaning, cooking, dealing with appointments and a variety of day to day challenges we all face.  It can be extremely difficult if you have past trauma that hasn’t been dealt with, or stuck in the circle of      substance misuse to gain confidence and self-esteem.  To break that cycle of destruction, keeping them busy and having the sense of purpose is a big key to changing who they are and what they do, having the trust and beliefs in them, once that cycle has been broken or they are shown a different way of thinking these things can be a long term change for these people.

We believe that every individual matters and is worth more than the difficulties they find themselves in during difficult periods of their lives.
